An all time holiday favorite treat that will disappear before you can finish singing “Baby It’s Cold Outside”. Too many candy canes hanging around after the Holidays? Here is an easy spin on the traditional rice crispy treat I make every year with my friend to kick off Christmas break. Drizzle melted chocolate and peppermint sprinkles over top for extra texture.
1. Unwrap candy canes and crush in a plastic bag with the back of a spoon
2. In a medium sauce pan over low heat, melt butter completely
3. After butter is melted add in marshmallows and stir until melted
4. Turn off heat, add in Rice Krispies cereal and stir until completely coated
5. Add your crushed candy canes to the mix and stir
6. Scoop the mixture into a greased 13x9 inch glass pan with a spatula
7. Let your treats rest for 30 to 45 minutes uncovered
8. Cover after cutting, enjoy
EXTRA: Drizzle melted chocolate and peppermint sprinkles over the top for that extra texture!
