I’ve been told my great, great aunt was an amazing baker. Ironically her married last name was Baker. Her pie crust go down in the family history books as “perfection”. I’m going to attempt to recreate her crust with a homemade apple pie. This will be a daunting task, especially when you have Italian self-proclaimed food critics as your family. Wish me luck!
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 450º
2. Press crust into a pie pan
3. Bake for 10 minutes
4. Squeeze lemon juice into a large bowl
5. Cup apples into small slices
6. Toss apples in lemon juice until fully covered
7. Pour in brown sugar, sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon
8. Once apples are fully covered, put into pie pan
9. Preheat oven to 425º
10. Bake for 40 minutes
11. If edges of the crust start to burn put tin foil over the top and then keep baking
12. Take out and let cool for 2 hours
13. Enjoy!
